Most of people think that Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgeries are the same. However, there are fine distinctions between these three types of surgeries. Plastic surgery is defined as a medical specialty that uses several surgical and non-surgical techniques to change the appearance and function of a person's body. Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgeries are two subspecialties of plastic surgery. After an accident or a disease to repair a body part reconstructive surgery is done, whereas cosmetic surgery is done to enhance the appearance. Breast enhancement, Facial contouring, Facial rejuvenation, Body contouring, and skin rejuvenation are some of the reconstructive procedures that are used and Breast augmentation, Ear pinning, and Otoplasty, Face lifts, Neck lifts, and Liposuction etc. are some cosmetic procedures. The special issue “Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery” of the Journal of Medical Research and Surgery focuses on the broad spectrum of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery and the different techniques used in it.
