Arun Kumar Ramakrishnan is Associate Professor,Department of Anaesthesia, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Tamilnadu, India. He underwent hispostgraduation in DNB Anaesthesiology at KMCH & DA at PSGIMSR and learnt the art of anaesthesia in the operating room covering various surgical specialities. He learnt the steps and protocols followed during preoperative assessment andpreparation of patients scheduled for surgeries, the conduct of anaesthesia and postoperative recovery period including pain management.
He joined as registrar in cardiothoracic surgery at KMCH, Coimbatore and attained skills in cardiothoracic anaesthesia. He attained better skills and confidence in conducting anaesthesia in CABG’s, Valve replacement and thoracic surgeries he was working in Paediatric Cardiothoracic Unit and gained immense knowledge in paediatricanaesthesia, paediatricventilatory management and paediatric resuscitation.
He joined as a senior resident in the Department of Anaesthesia, PSGIMSR, Coimbatore and started my career conducting anaesthesia on my own. He took a special interest in gaining recent advances in anaesthesia and in academic activities to anaesthesia postgraduates, operating theatre technicians and MBBS graduates.He is author of many papers published in the national and international peer-reviewed journal, and his presence is often requested as Invited Speaker in international congresses.
